Free trial classes are the cheapest way to find out whether your child will actually sit still for forty minutes of violin. The problem is that most guides list a provider, say "free trial available", and stop there.

That leaves out the thing that decides whether the trial is any use: how long the class runs. Thirty minutes and ninety minutes are both sold as a free trial in Singapore, and they tell you very different things. So this guide leads with duration, then age range, then the conditions attached.

Free Trial Classes For Kids In Singapore, Verified

Free Trial Music Classes

Music is the strongest category for free trials. Aureus Academy offers a free 30-minute trial on drums, which it values at $69, across 31 outlets. Yamaha Music School offers a free trial with no stated age limit. Both are widely available, so there is likely to be a branch near you. Cristofori Music School also advertises a trial across its 31 or more outlets but does not publish the price, so treat that one as an enquiry.

Free Trial Dance And Gymnastics Classes

Asia Gymnastics and Dance Academy offers a free trial on all classes from age three, which is unusually open. StepUp Learning and Dance offers a complimentary trial across four locations. Beyond those two, gymnastics is almost entirely paid: BazGym charges $65, My Gym charges $65 or $45.40 at Jurong East, and Alpha Gymnastics charges $20. Free Trial Martial Arts Classes

Martial arts is the other consistently free category. Johan Taekwondo Institute offers a one-time free trial across multiple schools. Evolve MMA offers a free 30-minute trial for ages 4 to 13 across three locations.

Free Trial Art And Drama Classes

ARTARY is running a free trial that it prices at $53.50 normally, described on its own site as available for a limited period, with the booking form restricted to one student. Speech Academy Asia offers the longest free trial found anywhere in this research at 90 minutes, across nine locations.

A Free Assessment Is Not A Free Trial

This is the most common way parents lose an evening. Several well-known centres advertise something free that sounds like a trial and is not one.

• MindChamps offers a "complimentary learning evaluation" and a free phonics assessment. Both are placement tests with a teacher.
• Julia Gabriel offers a "free reading assessment" for K2 children. Again, an assessment.
• My English School and I Can Read offer a free assessment only, not a class.
• Little Skool-House offers a "Learning Experience session", which its own copy describes as a centre tour for parents.
• Coding Lab offers a complimentary 30 to 60 minute placement test, separate from its paid workshop.

Assessments are genuinely useful. They tell you where your child sits and which level to start at. They do not tell you whether your child enjoys the class, gets on with the teacher, or copes with the other children in the room. That is what a trial is for.

The Centres That Do Not Offer Trials At All

Worth knowing before you start filling in forms. These providers confirm on their own sites that there is no trial class.

• Heguru – states plainly that there are no trial lessons. Worth saying out loud, because it is one of the most searched trial questions in Singapore.
• The Learning Lab – offers a paid "Lesson Experience" charged at a full lesson fee, not a trial.
• Little Skool-House, Whizz Kidz and Cookery Magic – no trial found on their own sites.
• Every swimming school checked – there is no free swim trial in this data. All are paid.

How To Book A Free Trial Without Getting Locked Into A Term

• Ask how long the class runs. It is the field nobody publishes and it varies by a factor of three.
• Ask whether your child joins a real class or sits a solo session. A trial alone with a teacher tells you very little about how they cope in a group.
• Check whether it is new students only. Several providers restrict trials to first-timers.
• Ask about the registration fee. It is separate from the trial and often larger than one. Some schools charge $50 to $98 on enrolment.
• For under-5s, ask whether a parent is required in the room. Several toddler classes assume one.
• Check the offer is still live. Kumon's "2 free trial classes" page still ranks near the top in Singapore, and its own terms closed registration in September 2025.

Free is not automatically the better trial. Several paid trials are refunded or credited in full when you enrol, which makes them effectively free with a deposit.
