by House of Tan Yeok Nee
The House of Tan Yeok Nee is Singapore’s last surviving Teochew mansion and a gazetted national monument, beautifully restored as a lifestyle and event destination. This low–rise, 140–year–old building stands out for its distinctly Chinese–style architecture, featuring exquisite gilding, roof sculptures, and carved doors. It opened to the public for the first time ever in November 2025, allowing visitors to explore its heritage–steeped compound and an in–house gallery that showcases multimedia displays and photography–based artwork by the merchant’s descendant, Tan Ngiap Heng.
